1940’s Land Girl Jacket

Hello Cat’s and Kittens!  I have been sewing up a storm since my last post.  My most recent completed project is this wool 1940’s Land Girl jacket.  I purchased the windowpane tweed wool and the lining from B. Black and Sons and the button’s are vintage club buttons.  I purchased the pattern from SubversiveFemme on Etsy and worked up a muslin to check the fit and see if any changes needed to be made.  The pattern went together like a dream and fits wonderfully.  I absolutely love it!  It’s a perfect lite jacket and looks super cute with my retro style jeans.

I posted a TikTok with images and video from the construction.

Working with a vintage pattern, whether digitized or an original paper pattern, can be a bit tricky.  The markings can be less clear and the directions can leave some steps out that might have been completely intuitive to sewists of the time.  But I really enjoy using them.
