Where To Go From Here

I’ve been struggling about where I’ve wanted to take this blog.  I had originally conceived of it as a place to chronicle my interest and adventures in traditionally “old fashioned” ideas, fashion, and a life style that is often more familiar to my great grandmother than it is to my mother.

I certainly still want to share my projects and adventures creating a slower, more “old fashioned” life, but I also find myself more and more drawn to topics of women’s history and historical domestic culture and how they continue to play out and affect our modern lives.  I also want to share and discuss how the conscious reclamation of some of these historical concepts and ideas can be a radical modern statement.

There are so many rights and liberties we enjoy today that we often don’t understand the historical struggle behind or how the struggles to gain those liberties were often historically intertwined with other, equally pivotal movements.  I also find that many times we take for granted how small culture changes, whether consciously or unconsciously, had massive impacts that continue to effect us modernly.  I want to explore and discuss these more to help people, especially my fellow women and feme identifying sisters, gain a greater understanding on how all of our pasts are intertwined and continue to impact our present so that we may consciously work to shape the future we want.

I plan to post here weekly.  I also regularly post content on TikTok (@valeriavontasses) and Instagram (@valeria.von.tassel).  I do also have a YouTube channel but I am still working on developing my content and voice for that platform.
